The Other Theatre Co. / Chicago Dramawork / Random Acts
An equity theatre, The Other Theatre Co. focuses on telling the stories of those othered by society. Othering individuals or groups sustains power and privelage. Othering is an 'us' VS 'them' mentality often centered around race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender, identity, class, religion, and abillity. TOTC is committed to telling these stories in the hope that we can lessen the amount of discrimination and oppression in our world. Works to be considered should fit this mission and may or may not have a production history. Also accepting 10-minute world premieres that fit the mission for our annual one-act play festival. www.TheOtherTheatreCompany.com
Chicago Dramaworks is a new play publishing and licensing company focused on works developed in Chicago and by Chicago-area playwrights. Since launching last year, Chicago Dramaworks has licensed several productions across the country and published works by Crystal Skillman, Evan Linder, Patricia Kane, Adam Pasen and more. Works to be considered can be full-length, one-act, and of any genre, preferably with at least one past production. Works without a past production may still be considered. www.ChicagoDramaworks.com
Random Acts focuses on presenting unpredictable and diverse genres of theatre, striving to create approachable art with no expectations. The company will consider works of any genre or type, but encourages submissions that could be performed in found locations (think a play set in a coffee shop being performed in a cafe) and/or with a minimal budget. Also encouraged are plays in which something happens that the audience would never expect. www.RandomActsChicago.com
